Why do different operations have different definitions of quality? Shouldn't there be a benchmark definition?

▸ Customer expectations provide the basis, and these are not the same

▸ There is; some establishments simply fall short and fail to prosper

▸ Ignorance of what these standards are accounts for the differences

▸ Effort involved in meeting standards is too much for many operations
