Why is it considered unethical to ask a vendor to beat another vendor's price quote?

▸ The first vendor did not get the chance to counter offer

▸ It is not unethical, just good business

▸ The purchaser may be tempted to lie to get the price down

▸ It puts the second vendor in an awkward position
