In order for a zygote to grow within a human, it needs to be implanted somewhere along the uterus wall. The implantation allows it to extract nutrients and oxygen from the host.

Does that help?

But isn't it dividing as it's making its way down the fallopian tube? I figured it would need oxygen and nutrients to do this.
