primary research article and recent review article that relates to the topic chosen. For each reference you must include a short paragraph (no more than 300 words) describing what information the article contains and why you chose that article.

I chose Alzheimer's disease.

Hie thee to PubMed and learn how to do a literature search. You will probably want to narrow the topic. Some things that catch my eye in google searching (which may give you some suggestions for narrowing the topic to something that interests you, but won't in general lead you to the two papers you need) are the newer genetic linkages that may predispose people to later develop Altzheimer's. Novel therapies are always interesting.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed is the home page for PubMed.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK3827/#pubmedhelp.PubMed_Quick_Start has a bunch of short how-to articles and videos.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/disted/pubmed.html is a more complete set of tutorials, a lot of which you probably won't need at this stage.

You can limit your search results to give you both articles and reviews or just reviews or just articles. You need one of each, as I understand it. The immediate search result will give you access to the abstract. If you decide you want to use a particular reference there are links to the original paper. However, not all journals are open access. In fact, most of the major journals are not free. So either you need to pick an article and review that ARE freely available, or see if your school either has the journals in a library somewhere, or - better - gives you electronic access to a particular journal. If you pick something from a recent Nature Neuroscience, for example, you will probably have to see if you can get the paper via your library.

Happy hunting.
