A residue in the middle of a polypeptide has -CH3 as its side chain or R group. How many atoms does the residue contain?

(A) 7
(B) 9
(C) 10
(D) 12
(E) 13

--- attempted and think its 9 but arent sure at all

Which answer helps to explain how many hydrogen bonds a water molecule can form?

(A) Water can ionize, making hydronium and hydroxide ions.
(B) Oxygen's valence shell has four orbitals.
(C) The angle between H-O bonds in water is 180.
(D) The oxygen atom has six protons.
(E) Oxygen makes two covalent bonds.

D is wrong because oxyen has 8 protons
E is correct but doesnt go with the question (also checked and is wrong)
C is wrong because angle isnt 180

A and B i am not sure

I agree with you about E.

I would go with this: "Oxygen makes two covalent bonds".

Answer should be B.

E is wrong though.. i dont know why.. its either A or B i think...

this is what it saids

The statement is true but irrelevant. Oxygen makes four hydrogen bonds. Two of them involve bonding orbitals; the other two involve nonbonding orbitals.

and the other one answer was 10 .. Frowning Face o well

(B) Oxygen's valence shell has four orbitals.

In that case, I would choose this one.
