The complete metamorphosis is called holometabolus. In this, the eggs hatch into a larva which totally different from adult. This larva has to completely change its form to attain its adult stage. For Example: The mosquitoes have a larval stage which doesn't resemble the adult in any respect. Now this larval form has to under complete metamorphosis to become an adult mosquito.

The incomplete metamorphosis is also called hemimetabolus. In this, the eggs hatch into a nymph which almost resembles the adult but the only difference is size.
Example: The cockroach eggs hatch into young cockroaches called nymphs. The nymphs almost resembles the adult cockroach, now this nymph by undergoing moultings develops into adult.
