I would like know what sort of work a person can do with this degree. ie-how much time do they spend doing research(out on the ocean), what sort of money can they make, and where are these jobs avalible. If anyone has a degree or job in this field, please describe it to me.

Not much.  You're pretty much limited to working in zoo's, for the state, or working off of research grants.  

The money isn't really good unless you get a job with one of the oil companies.  

It's one of those (I'm doing it because I love it) jobs.
