How to solve this linear equation sum math?

[0.25y + 0.25y+ (1028-2y) x 0.5] /2000 = 0.166

Answer is y=364

but i don't know how to get it! can someone please teach me through steps. it will help me alot for my homework.

[0.25y + 0.25y+ 514 - y] /2000 = 0.166
[0.25y + 0.25y+ 514 - y] = 0.166 * 2000
[0.25y + 0.25y+ 514 - y] = 332
-0.5y = 332 - 514
0.5y =182
y = 182 / 0.5
y = 364

[ 0.25y + 0.25y + (1028 - 2y) x 0.5 ] / 2000 = 0.166 ---- multiply 2000 both sides

0.25y + 0.25y + (1028 - 2y) x 0.5 = 332

0.5y + 514 - y = 332 ---------------- take away 514 both sides

- 0.5y = - 182 -------------------------- divide - 0.5 both sides

y = 364
----------

This work will best be understood by using BODMAS!

Given: [0.25y + 0.25y (1028-2y) * 0.5] /2000 = 0.166
[0.5y + (1028-2y) * 0.5] /2000 = 0.166

Clearing brackets by multiply 0.5 with what's inside it;
[0.5y + 514 - y] /2000 = 0.166

Multiply both sides by 2000;
[0.5y + 514 - y] = 332
514 - 0.5y = 332
0.5y = 182

Dividing both sides by 0.5;
Therefore, y = 364.

get rid of the 2000 by multiplying the whole thing by 2000.

0.25y + 0.25y +(1028-2y) X 0.5 = 322

BIDMAS dictates multiplication comes before addition so multiply the bracket out.

X 0.5 is the same as dividing by two.

(1028-2y) X0.5 = 514 -y

add like terms.

0.25y + 0.25y - y = -0.5y

currently the equation stands at

514-0.5y = 332

subtract 514 from both sides.

-0.5y = 332 -514 = -182

divide by the number in front of y. in this case -0.5.

-182/-0.5 = 364

y = 364

BIDMAS = the order you do things. D and M are interchangeable, as are A and S
Brackets
Idicies (sp?)
Division or Multiplication
Addition or Subtraction
