For example; Chemical X has a mass of 5 grams, and chemical Y has a mass of 10 grams. If the two chemicals are mixed and a complete chemical reaction takes place, what is most likely the mass of the product?
A) 5 grams.
B) 10 grams.

You can't answer this question unless you know the molar mass of the chemicals and the molar ratio. Reactions aren't additive; they are dependent on the molar ratio and the molar mass.

If reaction is additive then you can simply add
e.g S+O2=SO2
Then 32   +32 =64
Unit can be gm,kg or MT
