Hello everyone,

I was wondering is crossing a homozygous dominant genotype with a homozygous recessive genotype considered hybridization or is it true breeding because both parent genotypes are technically pure bred? Also, is pure bred and homozygous the same thing?

Thank you very much. I appreciate any replies

Both of these are considered "true-breeding", anything that is homozygous that is.

Genetic hybridization is the process of interbreeding individuals from genetically distinct populations to produce a hybrid. A genetic hybrid would therefore carry two different alleles of the same gene.
