When I was in college, I lived in a house with about 90 other girls. The house was wired in such a way that a buzzer could be used to page a resident if she had a phone call or a visitor. Whoever was on reception duty would use the buzzer to tap out the girl's code. Mine was dot, dash, dot, dot, dot, dot. It didn't take long for each of us to learn to recognize our own code and ignore everyone else's. What concept is illustrated by this story?
A) selective attention
B) episodic memory
C) acoustic processing
D) all the above
