A steady current of 3A flows through a vertical rectangular coil with vertical sides of length 5cm and horizontal sides of length 2cm. The coil is placed in a uniform horizontal field of 0.4T. Calculate the force on each vertical sidem and the resulting torque, when the coil is placed with its plane. i)parallel to the field, ii)at right anlges to the field

the moment of a megnetic dipole is:
->P=N*i*A*n^    where N is the number of loops,\
i is the current in a loop
A is the surface of a loop
n^ is the normal vectore to the plane, which its directions obeys right-hand rule, curling your fingers in the direction of current, and the direction of yopur thumb is the direction of n^

the torque of this dipole obtains from this formula:
->t=->P cross  ->B   (in which B is the vector of magnetic field)

The excerted force on each current having wire is:
F=i ->L cross ->B

so now you can calculate the torque and force
