I'm changing the concentration of salt on a solution of amylase and starch to record how it affects the break down of starch into sugar.
I need a hypothesis, so will a greater concentration of salt speed up the enzymes rate of reaction or slow it down, and why would be helpful.

Thank you.

Certain amylases require chloride ions for activity and so there will be an optimum activity at the optimum concentration, assuming there are no other limiting factors such as enzyme or substrate concentration.
