Cyclin is a protein that gets its namen from the cyclically fluctuating concentration in the cell, and it is a part of cell cycle control system. What it does is to activate the kinases,(cyclin dependent kinases) then they can work together on the check point to give the go ahead signals or stop signal, simlify, it allows the cells to enter cell cycle.

Cyclins are proteins that are produced during cell cycle.
A group of cyclins will appear at a particular point in cell cycle and perform the duty, only to wane and give rise to another class to do another job. In other words there is a wave of cyclins during the cell cycle to drive the cell from one phase to another.
