When you see a red ball, the light travels to your eye which is magnified by your lens and concentrates on the fovea. There is where most of your cones are that detect color. ( Note also opponent process theory. Possibility of green after image). There the signal is sent through the optic nerve and towards the occipital lobe in the back of your brain.
