I have a math problem that gives me the x intercept 1, and y intercept -3, but no slope. How do I find the slope and equation for a problem that only gives me the intercepts?

Use the point slope formula

remember it'll go through two points given by the intercepts

(0,-3) the y intercept
(1,0) the x intercept

remember rise over run

 -3-0  rise
-----------
0-1  run

  -3/-1 = 3

3 equals the slope.
