What is the velocity and acceleration of a free falling object after three meters and six meters? Go to the link provided for virtual lab: http://jersey.uoregon.edu/AverageVelocity/index.html  Please provide formulas and guidance to help me better understand.

The acceleration of an object near the surface of Earth is a constant called 'g', which equals 9.8 m/s^2.  So this is the acceleration of the object in all cases.

The velocity of the object is given by the equation v  = squareroot(v0^2 + 2*g*h), where v is the velocity, v0 is the initial velocity (0 m/s in this case), and h is the distance fallen.  Simply plug in numbers to find the velocity at various distances.

v at 3m = sqrt(2 * 9.8m/s^2 * 3m) = 7.67 m/s
v at 6m = sqrt(2 * 9.8m/s^2 * 6m) = 10.84 m/s
