1... The nurse working in the patient’s home must always be aware of personal safety. Leaving the home in the presence of criminal activity would be the safest alternative. Removing the patient from the home is beyond the scope of the nurse’s responsibility. Contact with the physician might be indicated, but it does not have a higher priority than leaving the scene to ensure personal safety. Advising the patient to leave the home is appropriate but does not focus on the nurse’s personal safety.
