a) 16x^2+49y^2=784

b) (4x^2+5xy-y^2)=8
I thought the answer to this was y1=8x+y/5x-2y but  the program says its wrong.

Please explain I don't understand implicit differentiation at all.
for a I also have to solve the equation explicitly for y and differentiate to get dy / dx in terms of x. (Consider only the first and second quadrants for this part.).  how would I do this?

Differentiate with respect to x for both,
a) 32x + 98yy' = 0
y' = -16x/(49y)

b) 8x+5y+5xy'-2yy' = 0
y' = (8x+5y)/(2y-5x)

a) dy / dx = - 16x / (49y)

b) dy / dx = (- 5y - 8x) / (5x - 2y )
