A patient who lives alone has a BMI of 34. Which of the following strategies could the nurse suggest to help this patient reduce overeating?
1. Prepare a meal and eat it in the dining room.
2. Eat out more often to control portion size.
3. Read a book while eating to distract himself.
4. Cook once a week and store the leftovers to reduce the need to cook again.

1 -- There are a variety of strategies to assist a patient with a weight problem. The nurse should suggest that the patient prepare the meal in one room and then eat it in another to restrict eating in the kitchen. Eating out in restaurants should be reduced. Reading or watching television should not be encouraged. Cooking so much that there are leftovers is also not a good strategy.
