Given four points A, B, C, and D how do you find the scalar triple product?  I understand dot-product and cross-product, just not scalar triple product.

First find the vectors AB, AC, and AD.
Triple Product = AB.( AC X AD) = det ( AB, AC, AD)

Geometrically, this gives the volume of the parallepoid created by these 3 vectors.
Therefore, if scalar triple product is zero, then the 4 points are coplanar (lie on the same plane)

Best to try out some problems.
