Normal venous blood has a pH of about 7.4. Blood pH is controlled by the buffer system of H2CO3 and HCO3-. Which would one expect to have a higher concentraion. Please explain in detail. Thanks!

pH = pKa + log [HCO3-] / [ H2CO3]
Ka for the equilibrium
H2CO3 Leftwards ArrowRightwards Arrow HCO3- + H+
is 4.2 x 10^-7
pKa = 6.4
7.4 = 6.4 + log [HCO3-] / [H2CO3]

If [HCO3-] = 10 [ H2CO3 ]

log [ HCO3 - ] / [ H2CO3 ] = 1
7.4 = 6.4 + 1
