I always get them confused, I have trouble remembering which one has the high solute or if the water flows in or out.
Any tips on remembering which is which?

Hyper is high
Hypo is low

For example,

Hypertonic is when the fluid outside the cell has a higher concentration of dissolved particles. Water moves out of the cell and into the surrounding solution.

Hypotonic is when the fluid outside the cell has a lower concentration of dissolved solutes than inside the cell. Water moves into the cell.
