I have 3 resistors with an 800 Ohm, 1000 Ohm, and a 1200 Ohm resistance. I have them in series and in parallel (2 different setups). What I want to know is if I can replace the three resistors with a single one and how I calculate how much resistant the replacement should have in both cases...

in series, 800+1000+1200=3000ohm, replace it with a 300 ohm resistor

in parallel, 1 / (1/800 + 1/1000 + 1/1200 ) = 324.324 ohm

One resistor with same resistance as those 3 in series is 3000 ohms.
One resistor with same resistance as those 3 in paralell is 324.32 ohms.
