You are standing on top of a 407 m tall building. A drone operated by your friend is headed straight down, at a speed of 40.0 m/s. Just as the drone passes you, you release a tennis ball off the roof. How fast is the ball going when it passes the drone?

Hi there

This fact: 443 m is irrelevant.

((40.0 + 40.0)*t) ÷ 2 is equal to the distance = ((0 + v) * t) ÷ 2

Set them equal to one another:

40t = v*t / 2

The t's cancel out, now solve for v

40 = v/2

Therefore, the ball going 80 m / s.

Your answer when retaining significant digits should be 80.0
