I need some help answering this essay question please...


Colostrum, the first milk that a mother produces, contains an abundance of antibodies (large protein molecules). By what membrane transport process would you suspect these maternal antibodies are transported across the cells lining a newborn's digestive tract and then into the bloodstream? Briefly explain.

By transcytosis where vesicles are employed to intake the antibodies (and other macromolecules) on one side of the cell, draw them through it, and eject them on the other side.
