Which of the following statements about dilution is TRUE?

The number of moles of solute remains constant after dilution.

The number of moles of solute decreases after dilution.

The number of moles of solute increases after dilution.

All of these

None of these

** Thoughts:

Upon dilution, i.e. the addition of more SOLVENT, we reduce the concentration (i.e. we make the quotient SMALLER by increasing the denominator), but the moles of solute is necessarily unchanged.
