This article focuses on a group of researchers aimed to create a synthetic organism containing the bare minimum amount of genes required for life. Their objective is to shed light on what is fundamentally required for cellular life.

Bio ethical concerns can easily arise from such a topic, and ethical debates such as 'playing god' can be argued.

When you like a flower, you just pluck it out.
But when you love a flower, you water it daily.
The one who understands this, understands life.

- That's the difference between I like you and I love you.

I think that creating synthetic microbes is ok as long as it is used for medical research and for discovering new pharmaceutical products and we are being informed about it as a society. I do think that there need to be strict guidelines about synthetic life to make sure that it is not being used for bioterrorism for example.
