A baby boy born to a mother who had rubella in the first trimester of pregnancy became cyanotic toward the end of the first week of his life. During the work-up it was shown that the infant had pulmonary artery stenosis.

This infant has tetralogy of Fallot, a cyanotic developmental heart malformation comprising dextroposition of the aorta (overriding aorta), pulmonary artery stenosis, right ventricular hypertrophy, and a ventricular septal defect usually involving the upper (membranous) part of the septum.
