The problem solving teams, sometimes referred to as corrective action teams or

quality circles, are probably the most common type of team used in quality. Problem-solving teams work to improve quality by identifying and solving specific quality-related problems facing the organization. Two basic types of problem-solving teams are departmental and cross-functional. These teams are limited in membership to employees of a specific department and are limited in scope to problems within that department.
