Receiving is a series of activities that ends with the transfer of product own-ership from a vendor to an operation. Receiving is important because the delivery invoice will be the basis for the amount owed to the vendor. Incoming products should be checked against the purchase order and product specifications. The quality of incoming products must be verified, and the delivery invoice must be signed before products are moved to storage. A receiving report may be used to categorize invoice information.
