1.) Lemna minor,  a species of duckweed, can reproduce to form new plants very quickly. Suppose that a small backyard pond contains 25 Lemna minor plants, and the expeccted growth rate of the population is 1.0 x 102 plants per day. Predict how many Lemna minor plants the pond will contain after 31 days. 2 marks

***HINT
You will calculate the plants produced in 31 days. Do not forget to add this number to the original number of plants to get the total number of plants.

2.)  According to population surveys of piping plover, there were 34 of these birds on Dowling Lake Alberta in 1992. The next year, the population of piping plover on Dowling Lake was 39. Calculate the per capita growth rate for the piping plover population during the entire survey period. 1 mark  (record your answer with two significant digits)

****HINT:
1 mark:39 plover - 34 plover = 5 plovercgr = 5 plover divided by 34 plover = 0.147cgr = 0.15
