Right now I'm going to school and planning to major in sociology. I thought of Criminal justice but some people have told me the sociology degree is better and technically "the new criminal justice". They also told me the degree gives me more of a verity of jobs.

Interesting, I would have thought the other way around.  Ask the university what jobs people are getting with a sociology degree, and what jobs people are getting with a criminal justice degree, they track that.  Sometimes they just want you to have a degree, it doesn't matter what it is in, but you really should chase your own dreams, it is your life and you have to live it.
