Is it possible to translate RNA in vitro using cell-free preparations obtained from E. coli lysates. Under certain artificial experimental conditions, an initiator methionine codon is not required and translation can initiate with any amino acid. How many different peptides are potentially encoded in this RNA sequence in such a system? Consider all reading frames and consider a peptide to consist of two or more amino acids. Show how you got your answer.

Since a codon has 3 nucleotides and there are 20 amino acids, wouldn't the equation be 3^20 ? Not 100% sure.
