Where might an example of turgor pressure adjustment be observed happening in nature or around your home?

The main one is when a plant wilts.

Herbaceous (non-woody) plants rely on turgor pressure for support - the water inside their cells pushes out on the cell walls and keeps the plant upright. When the plant loses water, this support is lost, and the plant wilts. The advantage of this is that the drooping of the leaves takes them out of the heat of the Sun - so they lose less water.
