I need help with whatever I can get here:
This is the review heet for exercise 34B Physioex 8.0

2.Which wave is larger, the one for atrial contraction or the one for ventricular contraction? Why?

3.At what time during the contraction cycle was it possible to induce an extrasystole?

4. By clicking the Multiple Stimulus button and delivering 20 Stimuli/sec, were you able to achieve tetanus/ Why or why not?

5. What happens to the heart rate with vagal stimulation?

6. What happens during vagel escape?

7. List the frog heart rate for the following conditions:
_______bpm with 5degree C Ringer's solution
_______bpm with 32degree C Ringer's solution

8. Describe the effect of temperature on heart rate.

9. Did this effect match your prediction? Explain.

10. What was the heart rate after treatment with pilocarpine?
______bpm with pilocarpine

11. Did this effect match your prediction? Explain.

12. What was the heart rate after treatment with atropine?
_____bpm with atropine

13. Are the effects of pilocarpine and atropine the same or opposite?

14. What was the heart rate after treatment with epinephrine?
_____bpm with atropine

15. Did this effect match your prediction? Explain.

16. What division of the autonomic nervous syhstem does the addition of epinephrine imitate?

17.What was the heart rate after treatment with digitalis?

8. Describe the effect of temperature on heart rate.

Decreasing temperature causes a decrease in heart rate; increasing temperature causes an increase in heart rate. There is a direct relationship between temperature and heart rate.
20. Which ion had the greatest effect on the frog heart? Explain.

Potassium ions had the greatest effect because increased potassium ( hyperkalemia) decreases the resting potential of cardiac muscle plasma membranes, thus decreasing the force of heart contraction.

13. Are the effects of pilocarpine and atropine the same or opposite?

The effects of pilocarpine and atropine are opposite.

Good luck...
