Mediation is a process that involves a neutral third party who assists two parties both privately and collectively to identify issues and to develop proposals for resolution. Arbitration is another option. In arbitration, the dispute is sent to an arbitrator for a decision. The parties agree in advance if the decision is binding or nonbinding.
