(1)The heart is inflammed and due to its larger than normal size there will be rubbing of the cardiac layer. Chest pain (3) is a direct sign due to the rubbing. The others are not signs or symtoms of pericarditis.

Pericardial friction rub and chest pain are hallmark signs of pericarditis in addition to fever. Abdominal discomfort, nausea, bradycardia, and distended neck veins are not associated with pericarditis.
