Drinking and Driving Testimony
Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in the United States. It has been legal for many decades and is also known to be a drug that can be very addictive and commonly abused. Even teenagers and college students today are known to use and abuse alcohol. Since alcohol is legal and found practically everywhere it is easy for teenagers to get a hold of alcohol just by getting someone who is the age of twenty-one or older to buy it for them. Also, alcohol is served at many parties to underage young adults causing many of them to drink and drive which can cause fatal accidents. Many teenagers drink and drive due to them thinking that they are stable enough to get behind the wheel because they feel as if they haven’t drank that much when in fact, they are not stable to drive. Even if you have the slightest alcohol in your system you should never get behind the wheel because it can still cause you to be impaired. Many teenagers also drink and drive because they have no one to drive them home and are too scared to call their parents to tell them that they are drunk in fear that they will get in trouble. So, to avoid facing consequences from their parents they get behind the wheel anyway. But they have no idea that if they get behind that wheel and get into an accident, they can change their life and the many people around them lives forever. The consequences that they can face are truly more severe than any punishment from a parent. These teenagers have their whole lives ahead of them and with one mistake it can be permanently ruined.
Public Service Announcement
Drinking and driving is never the answer because in a split second your life could be taken away from you or you could take the life of someone else all because you decided to get behind that wheel. If you do decide to drink, drink responsibly and always have someone with you that you can trust who has not also been drinking to get you home safely. Many teenagers don’t realize the danger of drinking and driving but it is very serious and has ended many lives and torn many families apart. Before you get behind that wheel drunk think of how it would feel if any one of your family members was taken away from you due to a drunk driver. Think of how it would feel if the driver lived and was able to see another day while your family member’s life was cut short. Your family member would have payed the price for the drunk driver all while the driver came out without a scratch. If everyone would think about this before they get behind that wheel, I believe that they would never get behind it in the first place. Also, if you feel like you can’t trust your friends to drive you home safely and you know that your parents will come pick you up don’t be afraid to call your parents. Yes, you might face consequences, but I would rather face those consequences than being dead, facing jail time, or having to live the rest of my life knowing that I ended someone else’s life all because I decided to get behind that wheel that night. Life if so beautiful yet so short and everyone should try their best to live it to the fullest, so don’t let drunk driving be the reason that it’s cut short!
