Answer to #1

E

Answer to #2

The metabolic complications of TPN include abnormal liver function, electrolyte imbalances, gallbladder disease, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, metabolic bone disease, nutrient deficiencies, and refeeding syndrome. Since Ms. Johnson has type 2 diabetes, she is at greatest risk for hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia can be prevented by adding insulin to her PN solution.
