1) In fruit flies, long wings (L) are dominant over short wings (l).

In a population of 60 fruit flies, 38 have LL genotypes, 22 have Ll genotypes, and 0 have ll genotypes.

Find the frequency of

a.    long-winged fruit flies     Answer

b.    short-winged fruit flies    Answer

Record your answer as a value between 0 and 1 rounded to two decimal places.

2) In sheep, a hairy coat (H) is dominant over woolly fleece (h).
In a population of 71 sheep, 39 sheep are homozygous dominant and 27 sheep are heterozygous dominant.

Find the frequency of the

a.    H allele  Answer

b.    h allele  Answer

Record your answer as a value between 0 and 1 rounded to two decimal places.

total no. of long winged flies are those having LL or Ll genotype which is equal to 38+22=60.

And total no of flies =60

So frequency=60/60=1

And the frequency of short winged flies with ll genotype=0/60=0

71 total
39/71 = p^2
0.7411 are H (write 0.74)
1-0.7411 = 0.2588 (write 0.26)

Hope that helps
