If I were to solve a logarithmic function like:
log[5]x = 3 (where 5 is the base, and I had to solve for x)
What process would I take to solve that or how would I solve it?

in general if you use ln(x) for eas of integration

us ln(y)(x)  ln base y  = ln(x*ln(y))

log[5]x = 3 then x = 5^3 = 125
in general: log[base]x = y then x = base^y

Let log be log to base 5
log x = 3
