Theodore was a highly inbred handsome rat with a very long tail (30 cm), while his equally
inbred yet striking mate, Spacey, had a petite tail (6 cm). When Theodor and Spacey had their
first litter, all had 18-cm tails. When the babies grew up and interbred, they produced 256 F2’s
with tails ranging in size from 6 cm to 30 cm in the following intervals: 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, and
30. Of these 256 F2 offspring, four had tails of 6 cm and four had tails f 30 cm.

a. Of the F2’s,which tail length would you expect to be the most frequent?
b. How many gene pairs appear to be influencing tail length in this example?
c. Give the likely genotypes of Theodore and Spacey.
