You are designing a centrifuge to spin at a rate of 14,630 rev/min.

(a) Calculate the maximum centripetal acceleration that a test-tube sample held in the centrifuge arm 15.2 cm from the rotation axis must withstand.

(b) It takes 1 min, 17 s for the centrifuge to spin up to its maximum rate of revolution from rest. Calculate the magnitude of the tangential acceleration of the centrifuge while it is spinning up, assuming that the tangential acceleration is constant.

a) find the circumference of the path of the rotation.

=2 * 3.14 * 0.152.
1 rev = 0.95456 m
T = 14630 rev / min

convert period into velocity in terms of m/s by multiplying it by 0.95456 m / rev
v = 13965.2128

plug this converted period which is velocity, v into the equation:

centripetal acceleration = velocity ^ 2 / R

where R is the length of the centrifuge arm.

a = 3.5641 * 10 ^ 5 m/s^2
