Deviant behaviors deviate from the social norm; however, these behaviors are not necessarily illegal. In addition, not all crimes are considered deviant behaviors; although, they often overlap. Criminologists are concerned with the concept of deviance and its relationship to criminality. Sociologists who study deviant behaviors often want to understand or identify the line that separates criminal from unusual behaviors.
