Primary succession occurs when there is bare rock is exposed or we can say new land is formed. And that land is colonize for the first time.

In the given options options 'a glacier receding and exposing land underneath' is the correct option. Because in this case only there is no colonization earlier.

Other options are incorrect because in other options there are the land is already colonized.
