Homologous structures is when two or more species share structures that are anatomically similar, for in-stance, they share similar bone structures or similar muscle structures. An example would be the bones of a human and the bones or a whale flipper.

Analogous structure is when organs share structures that perform similarly or function similarly but are not anatomically similar. An example might be the respiratory system of a fish versus the respiratory system of a human (gills and lungs, respectively).

Vestigial structures are those that are found in organisms that no longer have a definitive function, but likely had an evolutionary past. An example might be the appendix of a human.
