Protein A is a flavoprotein with a redox potential of -0.2 V. Protein B is a cytochrome with a redox potential of +0.1 V.
a. Draw the half-reactions for each of these two electron carriers.
b. Give the reaction that would occur if one were to mix reduced A molecules and oxidized B molecules.
c. Which two compounds in the reaction of part b would be present at the highest concentration when the reaction reached equilibrium?

Part (A) Protein A is a flavoprotein with a redox protentials of -0.2 V. The half reaction for it is:

FAD + 2H+ + 2e- Rightwards Arrow FADH2

Protein B is a cytochrome with a redox potential of +0.1 V. The half reaction for it is:

4 cyt C2+ + 8H+ +O2 Rightwards Arrow 4cyt3+ +2H2O + 4H+ cytosol

Part (B) The reaction that would occur if one were to mix reduced A molecules and oxidized B molecules is as follows:

FADH2 + 2 cyt c3+ Rightwards Arrow FAD+ + 2cyt C2+ + 4e- +2H+

Part (C) The compound which is present in highest concentration when the reaction has reached equilibrium is cytochrome c or Protein  B.
