1 -- Orlistat (Xenical) is a lipase inhibitor. The medication must be taken at mealtime or within the first hour of eating. It is used to reduce the amount of fat absorbed from dietary intake. Fat-soluble vitamins will be excreted, and must be replaced by supplements. To maximize results, the patient must incorporate a low-calorie, low-fat diet into the daily routine.
