1,2,3 -- In men older than 35, epididymitis is usually associated with a urinary tract infection or prostatitis. Dysuria would be the chief manifestation for the patient who has a urinary tract infection. Men who practice unprotected anal intercourse may acquire sexually transmitted epididymitis. Urethritis, not epididymitis, would be consistent with gonorrhea. Congenital disorders are not associated with epididymitis.
